The short version
Mesh Chat connects to a Hermes Agent gateway you run. Add its address and API key, and chat. For anything else, email contact@meshvault.ai.
1. Getting started
- Turn on the API server in your Hermes Agent gateway (
gateway.api_server, port 8642 by default) and setAPI_SERVER_KEY. - In Mesh Chat, tap Add gateway. Enter a name, the gateway address (for example
http://my-computer:8642), and the key for thedefaultprofile. - Tap Test connection, then Save, and start chatting.
Other Hermes profiles are served at /p/<profile>/ on the same gateway and use their own key.
2. Connection problems
- Offline: the phone cannot reach the address. Check that the gateway is running and that the phone is on the same network or tailnet.
- API key rejected: the key does not match that profile's
API_SERVER_KEY. - Local network: if iOS asked for local network access and it was denied, turn it on in Settings, Privacy & Security, Local Network.
3. Unlock and restore
The free app chats with your first gateway's default profile. The one-time Unlock adds every gateway and profile, plus the Console screens for models, skills, tools, health, and scheduled tasks. To restore Unlock on a new device, open Console, then Access, then Restore purchases. Refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
